Groningen Top-Rated for international law in the Netherlands again
The International Law Department at the Faculty of Law is again 'Top-Rated' for its international law LLMs. The ranking is according to the latest Keuzegids Higher Education Guide 2018 – Master’s programmes, which includes descriptions of all higher education master’s programmes officially registered in the Netherlands. The guide offers a quality assessment for most programmes based on student evaluations, with a Top-Rated designation only given to programmes with 76 points or higher.
The ranking in international law refers jointly to the Faculty of Law’s English language LLM degree programmes in International and Human Rights Law (IHRL), and Public International Law (PIL)*. Not only is this the second consecutive year the IHRL and PIL programmes have been designated at Top-Rated, but also the third consecutive year they have had the top evaluation score for LLM programmes in this category.
On being designated as Top-Rated for 2018, Prof. Dr. Marcel Brus , the Academic Director of both programmes, exclaimed 'We are very pleased that our students recognize the dedication and quality of our teaching staff, as well as our commitment to provide both excellent scientific training and teaching students how to apply their skills and knowledge in a practical setting in which we reach out to their professional environments. The growing reputation of Groningen as a truly international academic environment may have contributed to receiving this result'.
Fourth in the ranking among programmes was the Faculty of Law’s English language LLM in European Economic Law (EEL)**, demonstrating the Faculty’s continued expertise in the fields of international and European Law.
These programmes, as well as the rest of the one-year, English taught LLM programmes at the Faculty, are currently accepting applications for studies beginning in September 2018.
*Both programmes are accredited in the Netherlands under the LLM CROHO label International Law and the Law of International Organizations (60605).
**This programme is accredited in the Netherlands under the LLM CROHO label European Law (60602). It was also previously known as European Market Law.
