Faculty of Law alumnus Mutangana appointed as Prosecutor General of Rwanda
On 19 December 2016, with unanimous Senate approval, Faculty of Law alumnus Jean Bosco Mutangana was appointed to the position of Prosecutor General of Rwanda. Mutangana, a graduate of our LLM programme in Criminal Law and Criminology (now known as Global Criminal Law ), has worked as a Prosecutor in Rwanda since December of 1999, being promoted to the position of a National Prosecutor in June of 2004. He has prosecuted in both Rwanda’s High Court and Supreme Court.
Mutangana was the Secretary General for African Students Community (ASC) in Groningen during his time here, from 2010-2011. He is also currently an external PhD Researcher at the International Victimology Institute (INTERVICT) of Tilburg University Graduate School of Law, conducting research on challenges and opportunities in view of emerging investigations and prosecutions of human trafficking offenses in Rwanda.
