Summerschool ‘Energy Security & Reliability’
The Groningen Centre of Energy Law (GCEL) and the Faculty of Law of the George Washington University (GWU) organize a joint programme on ‘Energy Security and Reliability’ involving a summer school in Washington and a spring school in Groningen.
The summer school took place in Washington from 21 August to 25 August 2016 and involved lectures on US and EU energy law, FERC regulation of natural gas pipeline siting, the US regulatory views on demand response, oil security and customer compensation for net disruption. In addition, visits were arranged to PEPCO Watershed House and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation [see pictures below].
In Washington the students also started to discuss and prepare the joint research on issues involving ‘Energy Security and Reliability’. The outcome of this joint research will be presented at the end of the spring school that will be organized by GCEL in Groningen from 14 May to 18 May 2017.
