Dr Solke Munneke appointed Professor of Constitutional Law

Dr Solke Munneke has been appointed Professor of Constitutional Law within the department of Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and Public Administration at the Faculty of Law, from September 1, 2015.

Munneke (1975) studied Dutch Law, specialization Public Law, at the University of Groningen, where he also gained his PhD in 2006: Inlichtingenplichten en verschoningsgronden in het staatsrecht. Promotors were Prof. D.J. Elzinga and Prof. A.H.M. Dölle. His dissertation was nominated for the triennial award for the best PhD dissertation in the field of constitutional law defended at a Dutch university, by the Staatsrechtkring, the Dutch Association of Constitutional Law.

Administrative Law in Organizations plays an important role in Munneke's research, especially from the perspective of Constitutional Law and partly from the perspective of Administrative Law. Recently his area of interest lies in the field of Decentralization and Municipal Law.

Munneke worked until recently as Associate Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the VU, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he was voted teacher of the year in 2011. At the University of Groningen, he is the successor of Prof. D.J. Elzinga, who retired.
