Dimitry Kochenov and Laurent Pech on EU Rule of Law enforcement: From Bad to Worse?

10 February 2015
Prof. Dimitry Kochenov (EU Constitutional Law) together with Prof. Laurent Pech (Middlesex University Law School) published an op-ed in the Hungarian business daily Napi Gazdaság arguing that EU institutions, in particular the Council and the Commission, should do more in order to cope with the deterioration of EU values of democracy and the Rule of Law in some Member States. The choice of Hungary was not a haphasard one, of course. This op-ed has also been published in English in the EU Law Analysis blog, run by Prof Steve Peers. Kochenov and Pech are preparing an in-depth policy paper on the Rule of Law enforcement in the EU and the so-called "Pre-Article 7 procedure" for the French Fondation Schuman, to be released in French later this month.
