About us Faculty of Law International programmes Global & Intercultural Engagement Distinction

Category 5: international study (RGGIED5006)

Your successfully completed semester abroad (part of the UG exchange periods) and/or successful participation in summer and/or winter schools (organised at research university level) can be used to fill this category. Semesters abroad can be part of your Law programme, but can also be extracurricular (so supplementary) to your compulsory courses. Since all of GIED is about experiencing new cultures, an exchange in/to your home country can in most cases not lead to approval for this category.

The University of Groningen organises summer and winter schools; for these to be accepted, the group of participants should be international and the content of the schools needs to relate to your programme. You can of course also try to find summer and/or winter schools relatively easy online; also check out UG's Career Services (to be found by clicking the tab 'Career' in the Studentportal) for announcements about summer and/or winterschools. Please be aware that combining summer and/or winterschools should lead to a minimum of 6 ECTS (so at least 168 hours in total).

Please note: you will have to spend a minimum of 168 hours on this category.

Also check out the Rules and Regulations for this category.
