Dr. H.G. Hoogers
H.G. (Gerhard) Hoogers, born on the 2nd of June, 1970, in Purmerend, in the vicinity of Amsterdam, studied law at the (then) Catholic University of Nijmegen, now the Radboud University of Nijmegen, between 1988 and 1994, specializing in constitutional law and legal philosophy. He then became a Ph.-D. candidate at the University of Groningen. He gained his doctorate ( / cum laude/ ) in 1999 on a dissertation on the theory of political representation in Europe since the 16th century. He received the Erasmus Prize for his dissertation in 2000. He has been a senior lecturer in constitutional law at the department of constitutional and international law of the University of Groningen since 2006. He is project leader for the research program /Sovereignty and Representation in the European Legal Order,/ comprizing of three Ph.-D.-projects, the first of which will be defended early next year. He specializes in comparative constitutional law and the foundations of constitutional law and in the constitutional law of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, / i.e/ . the relationship between the Netherlands proper and the three overseas countries within the Kingdom.
