Contemporary Challenges to Cultural Rights
Enjoying arts and culture, benefitting from scientific progress and the protection of a diverse society are elements of cultural rights. Without connecting it consciously to cultural rights, we also read of contemporary questions in cultural rights in the news: for example the return of colonial-era heritage. Art.27 UDHR and other cultural rights provisions protect the role of culture in our everyday life. But how do they do so and what are challenges to these important rights today?
