Symposium on addiction and substance use in detention
When: | We 05-06-2024 09:30 - 17:00 |
Where: | VU University Amsterdam |
On 5 June, a symposium will bring together scholars, policymakers and practitioners from various disciplines to address the problems of addiction and substance use in detention. The central purpose of the meeting is to consider how Dutch penitentiary law and detention policy can contribute to reducing substance use and addiction problems in detention, resulting in a reduction of recidivism and an improvement in well-being.
Within science, there is a lack of empirical data on this problem. Also, practical experiences and the application of correctional policies in practice often remain inaccessible to scientists, making research on addiction policy difficult. Therefore, the purpose of this symposium is to share knowledge from across disciplines in order to promote interdisciplinary scientific research, policy and contact.

- Location: VU University Amsterdam
