First Röling Lecture with Nico Schrijver
When: | Th 12-12-2024 19:15 - 21:00 |
Where: | Lokin Hall, Röling Building |
On Thursday 12 December 2024, human rights and international law expert Prof Nico Schrijver, interim president of the National Human Rights Institute, will hold the first annual Röling Lecture in the Lokinzaal of the Röling Building in Groningen.
Schrijver will reflect on the relationship between war, peace and human rights and the ability of human rights to serve as an instrument for achieving peace. He will do so partly on the basis of Bernard Röling’s (1906-1985) thinking on human rights and how that fitted in with his pleas to move from negative peace (of mere absence of violence) to positive peace. (Free) walk-in from 7.15 pm. Good to know, this event will be in Dutch.
The Röling Lecture is held annually, partly in connection with the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (10 December 1948).
