The University of Groningen is looking for a new In-house Poet

21 June 2023

The University of Groningen is searching for a new in-house poet. Are you up for it? Send us your poems!

Each year, a new UG student is appointed the in-house poet of the university. For the duration of the academic year, the in-house poet writes poems that will be published on the website of the university. Also, there are many activities that the in-house poet is invited to perform at and you get the chance to organise events and perform your poems.

We want your poetry!

The university is now looking for candidates who aspire to be the in-house poet for the academic year of 2022-2023. Will you follow in the footsteps of Yfke Bethlehem?

You can apply by sending three poems to b.douwes@rug.nl. At least one of the poems has to be about the university. Please include a letter in which you explain why you want to be the next in-house poet and a registration of the performance of one of your poems.

Terms and conditions

  • To apply, you have to be a student of the University of Groningen during the academic year 2022-2023 – and you need to be able to write good poetry, too! Poems written in English are also eligible.

  • A jury will assess the poems.

  • Deadline is 30 June 2023.

  • If you have any questions, contact Bram Douwes, b.douwes@rug.nl.
