The next meeting of the XR Hub on Thursday 10 Novemer is all about eye tracking in VR glasses and a purchased app to simulate a laser lab in VR.

• Welcome and introduction

• Communication in VR | Gregory Mills (Faculty of Arts, UG) conducts research into communication between people in a VR environment. The study will be conducted with test subjects who both wear VR glasses with an eye tracker. A lot of data will be collected in this virtual lab, which will then be analysed.

• Eye-tracking in the virtual kindergarten | Jolien Mouw (Educational Sciences, Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, UG) the current project with the virtual kindergarten is being expanded with eye-tracking. This will be applied in education and research.

• Virtual laser lab experiment | Richard Hildner (Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, Faculty of Science and Engineering, UG) has just conducted a pilot together with students with market software that can simulate a laser lab in virtual reality. He is happy to tell about his experiences. How did he know about the existence of this software and how did he try it out in the XR lab? And what are the first reactions?

The short presentations are followed by demos in the XR lab.

XR HUB

The XR Hub organizes a (virtual) meeting every two months for teachers en researchers of the University of Groningen to share knowledge and experiences about the development and use of XR applications (augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), virtual reality (VR) and 3D).

Next meeting

The next XR hub will be in March/April. That's why there will be an additional demo on 12 January 2023 between 10:30-12:00 in the XR hub.
