Diversity and Inclusion week at the UG

At the UG, the week from October 3 to 6 is dedicated to diversity and inclusion, in the broadest sense. For example, on Diversity Day, Oct. 4, the rainbow flag will be raised and there will be attention on social media for students' stories. Emi Howard, communications advisor for Diversity & Inclusion, will take over the UG Twitter account for a week to give an insight into their work on diversity and inclusion.
The theme of inclusion also covers the digital and physical accessibility of the UG. What are the experiences of employees and students with disabilities? How can these experiences be improved? These questions are the focus of the panel discussion organized by Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Gerry Wakker, the Advisory Committee for Students with Functional Disabilities and the Teaching Academy Groningen. This event is open only to employees and students of the RUG. After the talk, Rector Magnificus Cisca Wijmenga will sign the declaration of intent 'UN Convention for more inclusive education'.
To provide an overview of all D&I initiatives, the UG published a flow chart so that students and staff can find the support, information and training they need.
Initiatives are also being launched at several faculties, including the Expertise Center 'Interactions in the Diverse Classroom' and the advisory group I-BSS (Inclusion at Behavioural and Social Sciences) at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. In addition, Gerry Wakker will speak at the Noorderlink interactive seminar "Equal Opportunities in Organizations?" on Oct. 6.
