Registration of additional activities
Here at the UG, we value the close connections that our professors have with society. Additional positions can help to strengthen these connections. At the same time, we aim for completeness, openness, and transparency when registering additional activities. In the sectoral agreement of the Universiteiten van Nederland (Universities of the Netherlands, UNL), it has been agreed to make it compulsory for full professors to report their relevant additional activities to their universities. Permission must be granted for such activities. In many cases, this registration process is going well, but imperfections can also be seen.
The Board of the University has therefore decided to consolidate the correct registration of professors’ additional activities through several actions. A special task force has already started working on this: their activities include carrying out so-called cross-checks for the data that are available and for the data that are possibly missing. If certain staff pages on the UG website do not align with the formal UG register, this will be rectified as soon as possible in consultation with the professors concerned.
Finally, it has been noted that in cases of incomplete (relevant) data about additional activities, the UG does not consider this a purposeful action. Transparency is a fundamental asset that is in the interest of everyone.
The Board of the University expects that the aforementioned actions will lead to the correct, relevant, and complete registration of additional activities.
