Video lecture Jacob Jolij on clairvoyance (as part of the Universiteit van Nederland)
Does clairvoyance exist? Nearly eighty percent of Dutch people have had an experience such as a special premonition or a predictive dream at some point. The scientific evidence for paranormal phenomena is paper-thin, and yet neuroscientist Jacob Jolij has devoted his academic career to it. Paranormal things are not explainable by the laws of physics, but the brain that notices the unexplained coincidences can be. In this video lecture (in Dutch) for the Universiteit van Nederland, Jolij talks about how extraordinary coincidences can be studied within a scientific framework and what this can teach us about the relationship between our brain and our consciousness.
Universiteit van Nederland
Through the Universiteit van Nederland, inspiring academics share interesting and new insights from their fields of research by means of short lectures. They bring science to life for a young and wide-ranging public by answering provocative questions in various formats. From dark matter to animals’ experiences of love: just about everything is covered.
