Cisca Wijmenga to receive the first copy of the Monitor Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren 2021

06 December 2021

On 9 December, the Dutch Network of Women Professors (Landelijk Netwerk Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren, LNVH) will present the Monitor Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren (Women Professors Monitor) 2021 at the Trippenhuis in Amsterdam. The first copy of the Monitor will be presented to Cisca Wijmenga, for one thing because of the notable growth of the proportion of women professors that was partly made possible thanks to the Aletta Jacobs professorial chairs that Wijmenga established as Rector Magnificus of the University of Groningen.

‘We are tremendously honoured to be the first to receive the LNVH Monitor. We see this as recognition for our policy that we announced in the spring of 2020 to establish 15 Aletta Jacobs professorial chairs. A year later, no less than 16 talented women were appointed, which is an excellent step forward in our ambition to increase the percentage of women professors.’

With the Monitor, the Dutch Network of Women Professors annually reports on the role of women within Dutch universities. The 2021 Monitor will be introduced by Hanneke Takkenberg, chair of the LNVH. Among other things, she will talk about the man/woman division within Dutch universities, university medical centres, and other academic organizations, and how Dutch universities are performing compared to other European countries.

Due to the new coronavirus measures, the event will take place online. You can find more information on the LNVH website.
