Welcome
The new academic year has begun: a year that is starting with joy as well as uncertainty. We are very happy that we can once again see all students and some colleagues in person at the University. We had hoped that this would apply for everyone, and still hope that that will soon be possible. The opportunity to come together in person makes working and studying much more enjoyable.
Together, let’s ensure that teaching can remain on-site in a safe manner and that we can all have a great academic year!
Kind regards,
Jouke de Vries, Cisca Wijmenga and Hans Biemans
Board of the University of Groningen

Are you coming to study in Groningen? Get vaccinated!
Over the coming period, you will be able to get vaccinated at one of the various locations in Groningen and Leeuwarden easily and without having to make an appointment.
Self-test twice a week
We call on all students and staff members to test themselves twice per week. This allows us to detect infections at an early stage and stops the unwitting spread of the virus.
Request your free self-tests via www.zelftestonderwijs.nl
#happyingroningen
You may have already noticed: the once-empty city is now bursting with flags, banners, and temporary street art. In collaboration with Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Noorderport, Alfa College, and the Municipality of Groningen, we would like to welcome all students and staff members to Groningen. We are happy to see you (again)!
Competition
Are you a student and do you want to win a Groningen sweatshirt and thermos flask? Then snap a photo of yourself at one of the selfie spots by 24 September at the latest, post it on your social media channel, add #happyingroningen, and tag the UG.
