Join the very first Ben Feringa Lecture on 20 November
Earlier this year, the Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Vereniging van Nederlandse Universiteiten (VSNU) and the University of Groningen (UG) planned the first Ben Feringa Lecture in San Francisco, organised by Alumni Relations. This was intended to be an exclusive lecture for the Holland in the Valley network to meet Nobel Laureate Ben Feringa. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the lecture was postponed until further notice. After the following months came and went, we got a little restless and thought: If we can’t get together physically, why don’t we get together online?
This is why we would like to invite you to join us for this unique online meeting on Friday, 20 November at 18.30 - 19.30 hrs (6.30 p.m. - 7.30 p.m.) (CET).
Dirk Janssen, the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will start off the first Ben Feringa Lecture. The evening will explore Ben Feringa’s life as a young student, to the moment he was awarded with the Nobel Prize, to his life presently. He will then be joined by Stanford University’s Professor Zhenan Bao, who has 45 honours and awards under her name, to discuss his research, working during COVID-19, exciting problems he foresees in the future, and how to motivate and inspire young talent to always strive for excellence. This session will be moderated by UG-student Aafke Eppinga.
The evening will end with a Q&A session. Have you ever wanted to ask a Nobel Laureate a question? You only have to share it with us when you sign up for the lecture.
Our Call: Do you have a message for Ben Feringa or an anecdote you would like to share? Write or record yourself and we might share it during the meeting for Ben Feringa to answer in real-time!
To join the lecture sign up via this link.
