Temporary extra lecture halls in Oude Boteringestraat 18

06 April 2020
Temporary extra educational halls will be created in the Oude Boteringestraat 18

In order to reduce the shortage of teaching spaces - after resuming physical education due to the coronavirus - the University of Groningen will temporarily create extra teaching spaces and study landscape on the ground floor of the Oude Boteringestraat 18. Now that the Public Library has moved to Forum Groningen, this space is temporarily available until the Faculty of Law makes its entrance. A total of six extra lecture halls will be realised in the project. All faculties will be able to make use of these facilities as of the Academic Year 2020-2021.

On the ground floor, space will be made available for six lecture halls and a study landscape. Because the building will only be available for one academic year, the architectural interventions will be kept to a minimum, but suitable for educational activities. All halls will be furnished to allow flexible use of the space.

Pilot space for Active learning

At least one room will be set up in such a way that it is ideally suited for Active Learning. In collaboration with lecturers from various faculties, a kind of pilot room will be created for Active Learning, an important target in the Educational Vision of UG's Strategic Plan. In this experimental space, lecturers will be able to gain more experience with Active Learning.
