Temporary closure of KNIR

05 March 2020

On Wednesday 4 March, the Italian government announced extra measures to prevent the spreading of the coronavirus (COVID-19). As of immediate effect, until at least 15 March and with a possible extension until 3 April 2020, all schools and universities in the country will remain closed and will not be holding teaching and research-based meetings. The Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome (KNIR) is acting in accordance with the measures taken by the Italian government.

All meetings including lessons, training sessions, lectures and seminars will therefore be cancelled from now until 3 April 2020. For this reason, the courses that had been scheduled in March will not take place. The lecturers and students affected by this will be informed as soon as possible and information about the alternatives that will be put in place will also be provided.
Students and researchers who are currently located at the KNIR will still be able to complete their stay there as planned. Students and researchers who had planned to arrive at the KNIR between now and 3 April are advised to postpone their journeys until after 3 April and to plan a later stay in consultation with the KNIR.

The KNIR still assumes that all activities that are scheduled after 3 April will go ahead as planned. The current state of affairs will be announced on the KNIR website: https://www.knir.it/nl/
