Groningen Sustainable Business Challenge brings together 100 UK and Dutch students
Last Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March around 100 students from our Faculty of Economics and Business and three other universities (VU Amsterdam, Newcastle and Liverpool) have been working together on the Groningen Sustainable Business Challenge, sponsored by the Province of Groningen.
For this year’s assignment, the students worked on smart and impactful ideas that relate to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for business development in agriculture, health, energy or digital and tech sectors. 16 Business advisors, part of them alumni, coached 16 multinational, interdisciplinary teams of students and judged their ideas.
In the final presentation at the county hall of the Province, regional minister on Energy Transition, Nienke Homan, said she was really surprised by the high quality of the pitches and the great commitment of the student groups.
The winning idea was to cover houses and buildings with innovative moss layers on top of the existing roofs.
On the Groningen end the Sustainable Business Challenge was organised by Raoul Terlaak and Wijnand Aalderink of FEB Career Services.
