The UG is looking for a new In-house Poet

10 May 2019

The Groningen University is searching for a new in-house poet. Are you up for it? Send us your poems!
Each year, a new RUG student is appointed the in-house poet of the university. For the duration of the academic year, he or she writes poems that are published on the website of the university.

What’s more, there are many activities that the in-house poet is invited to perform at, starting with the opening of the academic year on 2 September 2019. You get the chance to organise events and perform your poems.

We want your poetry!

The university is now looking for candidates who aspire to be the in-house poet for the academic year of 2019-2020. Will you follow in the footsteps of Sofia Manouki?
You can apply by sending five poems to j.m.j.oconnell@rug.nl. At least one of the poems has to be about the university. Please include a letter in which you explain why you want to be the next in-house poet and, if possible, a registration of the performance of one of your poems.

Terms and conditions

To apply, you have to be a student of the university during the academic year 2019-2020 – and you need to be able to write good poetry, too! Poems written in English are also eligible.

Jury

A jury will assess the poems. The chairman of the jury is dr. Quirijn van den Hoogen, lecturer art sociology and art policy. Other members of the jury are city poet Renée Luth and student English Language and Culture and Media Studies Hanne Stegeman.

Deadline is Thursday 20 June 2019.
