The Wealth of Nations - also in the UL collection
In the library of the Tweede Kamer (the Dutch parliament), a first edition was discovered of The Wealth of Nations by the Scottish economist Adam Smith. Smith is regarded as the founde of modern economy, and The Wealth of Nations from 1776 is his most important work.
In the vault of its Special Collections department, the University Library also boasts a first edition of this work. It is not so beautifully leather-bound as the one in the Tweede Kamer, but the two volumes are also in mint condition.
