University of Groningen and Jagiellonian University Kraków sign Memorandum of Understanding

On 9 November 2017 the University of Groningen and Jagiellonian University Kraków signed a Memorandum of Understanding envisioning broad cooperation in education and research. The signing of the Memorandum took place in the frame of the visit of Prof. Elmer Sterken, Rector of the University of Groningen, and the deans of all UG faculties.

The delegation met with JU’s vice-rectors and (vice)deans. The participants discussed broad prospects of mutual cooperation within the framework of The Guild and Coimbra Group networks. The details of collaboration were discussed at subsequent meetings at each of JU’s faculties and institutes. The memorandum was signed by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak and the Rector of the University of Groningen Prof. Elmer Sterken. In a short address both rectors expressed their intentions to open a new chapter in the mutual relations that have existed for many years already. Jagiellonian University in Kraków, established in 1364, is the oldest university in Poland. The university has 16 faculties at which 44.000 bachelor and master and around 3300 PhD students are enrolled.
