Groningen Building Award 2017: vote for the Energy Academy Europe
Which contractors, architects and developers will win the building contest ‘Grote Groninger Gebouwenenquête’ this year? The general public decides! One of the 13 nominated new buildings is the University of Groningen’s Energy Academy Europe . The building at the Zernike Campus plays a leading role in the field of energy: it actually provides energy and is thus unique in the Northern Netherlands. The renovation of the University Library entrance has also been nominated for the ‘Gouden Kiezel’, a different award for renovations. You can vote for these UG projects until 22 June.
Background information
The Grote Groninger Gebouwenenquête is a traditional part of the annual Day of Architecture Groningen (DAG). The contest is an initiative of Stichting DAG, Stichting Platform GRAS (Groningen’s architecture centre) and the Groninger Gezinsbode. The contest aims to generate interest in architecture among a wide audience. In addition, the Gebouwenenquête provides a representative overview of new buildings in the city. The list of remarkable buildings completed since the last Day of Architecture is drawn up by Stichting DAG and Platform GRAS. The reference date is usually around 1 June. Each year there are two winners: one chosen by a professional panel and one by members of the public.
Curious about the results of the Groninger Gebouwenenquête? Come to the awards ceremony on Friday 23 June at the Groninger Forum! The professional jury will explain their choice and alderman of Groningen Joost van Keulen will present the awards on behalf of the general public. Impartial ‘Stadjer’ (inhabitant of Groningen) Bram Douwes will ensure a fair ‘prize parade’.
