Biobased economy innovative project for Heeres
Prof. Dr. Erik Heeres (Green Chemical Reaction Engineering, ENTEG) together with BTG Biomass Technology Group and Johnson Matthey Pic. has obtained a grant from the Topsector Energy of almost 500 k€. The grant falls under the Biobased Economy Innovation scheme of the ministry of economic affairs and supports research and development projects focused on the conversion of biomass to final products via catalytic chemical and biotechnological conversion routes.
It concerns a study about catalytic upgrading of pyrolysis oil for the production of transportation fuels. The goal of this project is to investigate whether pyrolysis oil can (partly) replace crude oil or vegetable oil.
