University of Groningen appoints Head of Communication and Head of International Strategy and Relations

The University of Groningen has appointed two new heads of department. As of 23 November, Bas Rutgers will take over as Head of the Department of Communication, and Paul Bolt will start as Head of the new Department of International Strategy & Relations in early 2016. The Board of the University and the Office of the University Directorate are delighted to welcome them both.

Bas Rutgers

A.F. (Bas) Rutgers has been appointed as the new Head of the Department of Communication. He will take over from Piet Bouma, who was appointed as project director at the UG/ Campus Fryslan as of 1 April 2015. Bas Rutgers is currently interim director at LMK. His past positions have included director of marketing and/or communication at companies such as Nuon, Vopak, Vedior, Nationale-Nederlanden and Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Paul Bolt

In early 2016, Paul Bolt will start as Head of the new Department of International Strategy & Relations. He is currently managing director at GOstralia!-GOzealand! GmbH in Stuttgart (Germany). Paul has vast international experience in the higher education sector. In his new position, he will be responsible for developing a new approach to internationalization and for expanding the University’s global network. Paul Bolt has Australian citizenship, but his roots are in Groningen.
