Holland Scholarships awarded to incoming and outgoing students

Last Thursday, August 27, the Holland Scholarships were awarded by the President of the University of Groningen, prof. dr. Sibrand Poppema. In total, 10 international students who are starting with their study at the University of Groningen and 31 students from University of Groningen who are going to study abroad are awarded with a Holland Scholarship.
The Holland Scholarship is a grant from EP/Nuffic and is financed by the Dutch ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The grant is available for incoming international students who are starting with a Bachelor or Master programme in the Netherlands. There is also a grant available for students in the Netherlands who are going to study abroad.
Ambassadors
In the Senaatskamer in the Academy Building was a Meet & Greet organized, where students were granted with the scholarships. In his speech Poppema told that this is a joint initiative of the universities and the minister, to encourage talented students to study in the Netherlands. Also, students who are going to study abroad with a Holland Scholarship are ambassadors for the quality of education in the Netherlands.
The first Holland Scholarship was already awarded on Monday, August 24, by Minister Bussemaker (ministry of Education, Culture and Science). This festive ceremony took place at Schiphol, at the arrival of the international students. There will be a new round of Holland Scholarships for the Academic year 2016 – 2017.
