The University of Groningen Museum has been chosen as one of the museums to supply objects for the second Pop-Up Museum created by De Wereld Draait Door television programme. Guest curator Wim T. Schippers will visit the Museum’s depot in search of hidden works to put on display in one of the Pop-Up Museum’s nine rooms.

After a hugely successful first Pop-Up Museum, De Wereld Draait Door will open a second edition on 29 January 2016 in the Allard Pierson Museum, the archaeology museum of the University of Amsterdam. The television programme will invite some of its regular guests to furbish nine rooms with objects from the depots of eleven Dutch museums. Once again, the theme will be ‘Hidden Works of Art’.

After having been allocated a museum, the nine guest curators will comb the basements in search of hidden works of art. Each guest curator and museum are given one room in the Allard Pierson Museum, which they can fill with the exhibits of their choice.
The guest curators and museums are:
1 Wim T. Schippers – University Museum Groningen
2 Sander van de Pavert – Mauritshuis
3 Paul de Leeuw – Museum Boijmans van Beuningen
4 Beatrice de Graaf – National Military Museum
5 Daan Roosegaarde – The National Maritime Museum
6 Robbert Dijkgraaf – Teylers Museum and Museum Boerhaave
7 Paulien Cornelisse – National Museum of Ethnology and the Tropenmuseum
8 Sywert van Lienden – Bonnefanten Museum
9 Carice van Houten – Kröller-Müller Museum

The DWDD Pop-Up Museum is jointly funded by the Mondriaan Fund, the BankGiro Lottery and the Amsterdam University Fund. The NRC Handelsblad newspaper will publish a special pop-up edition, as it did last time.
