University of Groningen in 117th place in new THE rankings
The University of Groningen is in 117th place in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings this year, which means it has dropped a couple of places compared to last year. However, the same applies to most of the Dutch universities. The ranking list was published late Wednesday 1 October.
Prof. Sibrand Poppema, the President of the Board of the University, appeared slightly surprised by the news: ‘I don't really understand this. In 2014, the University rose to 82nd place in the Shanghai ranking and to 90th place in the QS rankings. We'll take a close look at the THE results with them to see what has caused the drop.’
