Back to college

25 August 2014

The KEI-week has just ended and the city is loaded with freshmen with great expectations. At the same time students entering their final semesters begin to realize they do have to get a job after their studies.

78,5% of the students at the University of Groningen think it won´t be easy to find their dream job (NEXT survey 2014). The process of finding a job is something you don't ideally start with in your final month of your final year. Better even; you can't start soon enough!

Matt Berndt is Campus Career Coach at Texas University and Vice President at CSO, the parent organization of Career ConNEXT. Berndt observes during his work on campus that many students expect to find jobs immediately after their studies. “It’s easy to say ‘I want a good job when I graduate’. It’s hard to define what that means to you, and to start planning and taking the steps to get that job.

Luckily at the University of Groningen there is NEXT Career Services to help you with just that. Starting Monday September 8, our freshly trained student pool are ready to answer your questions at the University Library (room 0123). For more information, useful tips and news articles on preparing for the job market, see our new website www.rug.nl/next.
