Björn Hoops wins German-Dutch Law Prize
Björn Hoops has won the 2014 German-Dutch law prize. On 20 May 2014, Björn was awarded this prize for his master’s thesis, entitled ‘Transfer of property under the condition precedent of the bankruptcy of the seller: A German-Dutch analysis’. The thesis deals with the question whether in the Netherlands, such transfers of property can be avoided de lege lata by the bankruptcy trustee. Björn analyses German insolvency law to fill gaps in Dutch insolvency law and to propose amendments to the Dutch bankruptcy code.
Björn’s and another submission were selected as the best of 70 submissions. The prize comes with 2,500 Euro.
Last week, Björn obtained both the Master’s degree European Law School and the Master’s degree in Dutch law summa cum laude, a unique achievement in the history of our Faculty. Since September 2013 he has been PhD Candidate and Lecturer with the Department of Private Law and Notarial Law.
