Numerus fixus Faculty of law abolished
The University of Groningen is abolishing the quota (numerus fixus) at the Faculty of Law. The Board of the University came to this decision after meeting with the Faculty Board on Tuesday 19 November. The University considers the quota no longer necessary in the light of the registration figures. The University also considers study choice meetings and activities and a registration deadline of 1 May better ways of achieving the right match between student and degree programme. As of academic year 2014-2015, there will be no limit any more on the numbers of students registering for a Bachelor’s degree programme in Law. The University’s decision does not stand alone – only a few Dutch universities still use a numerous fixus.
