University of Groningen joins AkzoNobel for Jet-Net Career Day
The F aculty of Science and Engineering (formerly known as the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) of the University of Groningen will be joining AkzoNobel during the Jet-Net Career Day for the Northern Netherlands, which is being held on 14 and 15 February on the University of Twente campus. Companies will visit the day to give presentations to secondary school pupils taking a ‘Nature’ profile from the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel and Gelderland.
A salty challenge has been thought up especially for the pupils. Each school pupil will be handed a jar of polluted salt and asked to find a procedure for tracing the source of the pollution. The pupil that comes up with the best procedure will win an excursion along with his or her classmates. Support for the challenge will be provided via the website.
The Faculty is a big fan of Jet-Net. ‘The future outlook of our prospective students wouldn’t be complete without a glimpse of possible future employers,’ says Theo Jurriens of the Faculty.
Taking part in the Career Day is not the only way that the Faculty lends support to Jet-Net. The Discovery truck visits numerous Jet-Net schools and every year, the Faculty takes part in the science quiz for northern Jet-Net schools.
