Festive installation of new Rosalind Franklin Fellows

04 October 2012

On Thursday 4 October 2012, fourteen new Rosalind Franklin Fellows were installed at the University of Groningen. Special guests at the festive ceremony included Rosalind Franklin’s sister Ms Jenifer Glynn, vice president of the KNAW Prof. Pearl Dykstra and Mayor Peter Rehwinkel. ‘We are incredibly proud of our Rosalind Franklin programme, intended to increase the representation of international talent at the highest level in our institution’, said Rector Magnificus Elmer Sterken. ‘The programme has earned its international reputation and is even being copied by several universities.’

His opening speech was followed by a lecture by Pearl Dykstra on the position of women in academia, and a personal story by Ms Jenifer Glynn, who captivatingly described the life and work of her sister Rosalind Franklin. The new Rosalind Franklin Fellows were then introduced via the video compilation below.
