Increasing clinical data suggest that eradication of human cancer may best be accomplished by concurrent activation of the various components of the immune system. This may be achieved by combining cancer treatment modalities which are able to enhance antitumor immune responses within the innate or adaptive immune system, by combing cancer treatment modalities, which simultaneously activate both innate and adaptive immunity or by combining treatment modalities, which stimulate tumor-specific immunity and target co-stimulatory pathways.
