27 June 2012

On Wednesday 27 June, the Indian ambassador, H.E. Ms. Bhaswati Mukherjee, visited the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Groningen.

The Ambassador talked informally with Indian staff and students about their work and studies, and their life in the Netherlands. During a lunch meeting, organized by the Faculty’s Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, the student exchange programme and initiatives for other educational programmes were discussed with the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Jasper Knoester, and the Director of the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, Prof. Thom Palstra.

The Ambassador had been invited by Dr Tamalika Banerjee, assistant professor at the research group Physics of Nanodevices, part of the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials. On the following day of her visit to the University, the Ambassador will visit other faculties and meet with the Board of the University.
