University of Groningen signs Memorandum of Understanding with Moscow State University
A University of Groningen delegation led by Prof. Sibrand Poppema is visiting Russia this week. On Wednesday 19 October Poppema signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Moscow State University Lomonosov.
In addition to Poppema, the delegation comprises Prof. Paul van Loosdrecht (physics), Prof. Henk Broer (mathematics), Prof. Henk Kiers (Dean of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences) and Frans Rutten (Associate Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Economics and Business).
The aim of the visit to Russia is to establish new contacts and strengthen existing ties with universities in Moscow and St Petersburg. The Memorandum of Understanding with Moscow State University was signed by Vice Rector Prof. Alexei R. Khokhlov.
After the signing ceremony discussions were held with professors from the physics, mathematics, psychology, sociology and economics departments. Van Loosdrecht then visited Moscow State University’s Laser Center, where he was received by Russian colleagues, while Poppema, Rutten and Kiers went on to the Higher School of Economics.
