Dimitry Kochenov appointed Associate Professor of EU Constitutional Law

On 1 June 2011 Dimitry Kochenov was appointed Associate Professor of EU Constitutional Law and the Individual.

Dimitry Kochenov (Russia, 1979) holds LL.M. in Comparative Constitutional Law from the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest. His LL.D. is from Groningen. He also read law and modern languages in the Russian Federation, graduating with degrees in law and in arts (French language and culture) and briefly attended the Universities of Grenoble (Pierre Mendès France), Amsterdam (UvA), as well as the Democracy and Diversity Institute of the New School University, New York.

Dimitry has been teaching at the Faculties of Law and Arts (Euroculture Erasmus Mundus programme) in Groningen for a number of years (first appointed as Ubbo Emmius Fellow in 2003, until recently as Universitair Hoofddocent) and was also a guest professor at several institutions worldwide, including Osaka Graduate School of Law (2007), UNAM Mexico (2009), American Bar Association Rule of Law Promotion Initiative (2007), and Angers Business School (ESSCA, Ateneo de Manila programme) (2009).

He also was Emile Noël Fellow in residence at the Jean Monnet Center, NYU School of Law (2010).

Dimitry's main research focus splits into five main lines: European Citizenship Law; EU Minority Protection, Non-Discrimination and Equality Law; EU External Relations and Enlargement Law; EU Law in the Overseas Possessions of the Member States; Rule of Law, Democracy and the Foundations of the European Legal Order.
