Royal decorations for three professors

On Wednesday 29 April 2009, three professors of the Faculty of Science and Engineering received a Royal Decoration. The Royal Decorations are anually awarded on the day before Queens’ Day, a national holiday in the Netherlands.

Prof. M. Veenhuis was made Knight in the Order of the Lion of the Netherlands. Anually only twelve persons receive this decoration. Prof. J.M. Koolhaas and honorary professor J.P. Kamerling were made Officers in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Prof. Veenhuis and Koolhaas were decorated on request of the University of Groningen; prof. Kamerling received his decoration through another organisation.
