REALaw research forum: Top-Down and Bottom-Up

The Review of European Administrative Law ( REALaw ), in cooperation with the Department of Administrative Law & Public Administration of the University of Groningen and the Institute of Constitutional and Administrative Law and the Europa Instituut of Utrecht University, is organising a one-day conference on the theme ‘Mutual relation of EU administrative law and national administrative law: top down and bottom-up’ .


T he aim of it is to give researchers dealing with European administrative law the opportunity to present their work (in progress) and to encourage exchange between scholars in the field of European administrative law.


The conference will be held on 3 June 2009 in the Academy Building of the University of Groningen .

Provisional programme

  • Welcoming address by the chair of the Department of Administrative Law & Public Administration, University of Groningen;

  • Key note by Prof. Dr. S. Prechal , member of the editorial board: ‘Competence Creep Through General Principles of EU Law?’.

  • Presentations of papers, dealing with the specific aspects of mutual relationship of EU administrative law and national administrative law.

  • Key note by a prominent scholar or practitioner in the field of European administrative law.

Registration

The fee of the conference is € 100. This fee will be waived for members of the Editorial Advisory Board and subscribers to REALaw and members of the organizing departments of the Universities of Groningen and Utrecht . The fee covers the conference, lunch, drinks and a copy of the conference materials.

Papers

Participants wishing to present papers should submit a CV and a 250-word abstract of their paper to the managing-editor of REALaw Dr. K.J. de Graaf at editors@realaw.eu. Abstracts are to be submitted before 1 April 2009 . Selection will be made by the editorial board of REALaw , as soon as possible thereafter. After being selected, participants are expected to submit a full draft paper before 28 May 2009 at the latest. After the conference the Editorial Board will consider the possible publication of selected papers for REALaw .
