Introductory tour: Travelling through Kaleidoscope & Masterminds
When: | Sa 28-12-2024 15:00 - 16:00 |
Where: | University Museum Groningen, Oude Kijk in 't Jatstraat 7a |
What is a BMW car doing in the collection of the University Museum? How did the phase contrast image of Nobel Prize winner Frits Zernike improve microscopes? What are the stories behind the first electric car by Sibrandus Stratingh? What was the first satellite built in the Netherlands used for?
You will find answers to these, and many more questions during the introductory tour of the temporary exhibition Kaleidoscope and the permanent exhibition Masterminds.
During the tour, we will reveal the various collections the University Museum holds, from zoology to ethnology and anatomy. You will go on a journey through numerous scientific fields. This tour, in which a university history student is your guide, focuses on the history of science and the founding of the university.
At the end of the tour, we invite you to determine which objects you find most beautiful, special or spectacular by doing the Object Tinder. Together we will determine what the real treasures of the museum collection are.
