On my (NextGen) laptop

Access to the library collection

How do I access the full text of a publication?

On your laptop you do not automatically get access to online publications like on a UMCG or RUG pc. Not even if you use UMCG Anywhere. This also applies to the NextGen laptops.

Our advice:

  1. Start your search via the library website

The links you find there let you log in first (if necessary) and then take you directly to the full text.
Always start PubMed via the library website: that is a special link that adds the red 'Get-it!' button to all articles in PubMed.
  2. Add Lean Library to your browser

This will sound familiar to many colleagues: you search for an article or e-book, for example via Google, but you do not have access to the full text.
Then 'Lean Library' can be very useful. This is a small program (extension) in your browser. Lean Library gives you easy and direct access to the PDF with a simple click on the pop-up screen.
On 'UMCG Anywhere' 'Lean Library' is already added to Edge by default.
You can also add Lean Library yourself to other browsers, such as Chrome.

No access? Request it!

Via the library you can request PDFs of articles or book chapters from other libraries in the Netherlands and abroad. You can also borrow books from other libraries.
This service is free for students, UMCG and RUG employees.
