DRM and publishers' e-books platforms
Important publishers with an e-books platform are Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Springer, Brill, Bloomsbury, Wiley-Blackwell, Elsevier, Thieme, De Gruyter and Taylor & Francis.
Many e-books however are published on so called DRM platforms (DRM stands for Digital Rights Management). Options for printing and downloading are then limited. We offer e-books on the DRM platforms Ebook Central and EBSCO.
DRM e-books can be read online and offline after downloading. For downloading DRM e-books on a laptop, tablet or PC installation of Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) is required.
Downloading EBSCO e-books also requires an EBSCO account.
For installaton of ADE on your managed UWP2 PC no Adobe ID is required!
However if you download ADE with user ID, your downloaded e-books you will be accessable on all your devices where ADE is installed (with the same user ID).
If downloading an e-book on a managed PC results in an 'error', you are advised to first de-authorize and then re-authorize the computer. This can be done under 'Help'.
Follow the instructions to download ADE on your managed UWP2 PC:
- In Workspace Preferences, add Adobe Digital Editions to your Start menu
- Access Ebook Central or EBSCO , download your e-book to Adobe Digital Editions
- ADE will start and will ask for 'leverancier-id', leave both fields empty, click in the left corner : 'authorize without id' and 'proceed'
- In the next screen you are informed that the computer is authorized and you can download the e-book
