Local deals
In addition to the national UNL agreements, the UG and the UMCG have negotiated a series of agreements in their own right:

BioMed Central - Submitting authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG get a 15% discount on APCs in 295 BioMed Central journals. Please check the journal browser to see if the discount is available for a specific BMC-journal.

Cogitatio Press - Submitting authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG can publish their articles open access at no extra cost in all journals by Cogitatio Press.

Company of Biologists - Submitting authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG can publish their articles open access at no extra cost.

Future Science Group (FSG) - The agreement covers mainly journals in the medical field. UG- and UMCG-affiliated corresponding authors can publish open access free of charge in 36 journals.
The FSG was acquired by Taylor & Francis in December 2023. Our Research & Publish agreement remains valid for the duration of the current contract (2024-2025) -
John Benjamins - UG-affiliated corresponding authors can publish open access free of charge in all John Benjamins’s journals. Read more

MDPI - Authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG get a 10% discount on APCs in MDPI journals.

PeerJ - The UG can cover the cost of APCs for publication in PeerJ's journals. Please contact openaccess@rug.nl or openaccess@umcg.nl for more information.

Portland Press - Submitting authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG can publish their articles open access at no extra cost in Portland Press journals.

Rockefeller University Press (RUP) - UG- and UMCG-affiliated corresponding authors can publish open access free of charge in RUP’s three hybrid journals: Journal of Cell Biology, Journal of Experimental Medicine and Journal of General Physiology. Articles will be published under a CC-BY license, directly deposited to PubMed Central (PMC) and subsequently to Europe PMC, and archived in LOCKSS/CLOCKSS and Portico. Read more

Royal Society - Submitting authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG get a 25% discount on APCs. Please check the journal browser to see if the discount is available for a specific Royal Society-journal.

Sidestone Press - Open access book publisher focusing mainly on archaeology, anthropology and history. The UG has access to all Sidestone Press e-books. UG/UMCG staff and students can claim a 25% discount on printed books.

SpringerOpen - Submitting authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG get a 15% discount on APCs in SpringerOpen journals.
