Springer OA deal: annual quota reached
According to the agreement between Springer and VSNU (Association of Universities in the Netherlands), Dutch corresponding authors are allowed to publish up to 2,080 open access articles in Springer journals without additional article processing charges (APC) per year.
This week (week 50), the national annual quota of 2,080 publications has been reached. This means that the deal is suspended until the end of December 2019. During this period, UG/UMCG articles will no longer be eligible for free open access publication. As of 1 January 2020, Dutch corresponding authors will be able to use the new allocation of OA fee waivers.
During the momentary suspension of the deal authors can choose to publish in the traditional way (closed access) or open access, but in the latter case they will have to arrange individual APC payment.
If you wish to discuss the available options or if you have any questions email us at openaccess rug.nl (UG-authors) and openaccess umcg.nl (UMCG-authors).
