The annual quotas for open access publishing under the Taylor & Francis and Oxford University Press agreements with the Universities of The Netherlands will be met in November.

Springer Nature OA deal: annual quota expected to be reached mid-October
Date:05 September 2024

Springer Nature open access deal: the national annual quota for 2024 is expected to be reached in mid-October. This means that from that moment the deal will be suspended and UG/UMCG articles will no longer be eligible for the usual 100% discount on the open access fee.

UG/UMCG open access uptake stable at 97%

In 2023, 97% of UG/UMCG peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings were open access - including gold (30%), hybrid (41%) and green (26%) open access. The share of open access publications remained stable from 2021 and 2022, but rose significantly compared to previous years (69% in 2020, 64% in 2019, 55% in 2018, 51% in 2017 and 37% in 2016).

Extra opening hours UB City Centre (1-26 June) and UB Zernike (7-27 June) due to the exam period. The UB CIty Centre is only accessible for students and staff of the University of Groningen (and other holders of a University card). Reserving a study spot is required. Hanze students will have no access to the library during these periods.
