Recently, the Special Collections of the University of Groningen Library have been enriched through various donations by generous benefactors. They wished to provide for the future of their precious books and to make them openly accessible for use, e.g. in teaching and research.

A large portion of our print collection has recently been catalogued. We hold prints of buildings as well as portraits of individuals.

Women in the Special Collections: Aletta Jacobs

Women can already be found in early materials at Special Collections, such as 15th-century books of hours. Books of hours are manuscripts made for private devotion with prayers for set times of the day.
