Biography
Wassing (Groningen 1925 – Assen 2015) studied law and art history in Groningen. He became a stenographer in both houses of the States General after service in India; meanwhile he was studying theology and Egyptology in Leiden and Amsterdam. He was pastor in Dantumawoude and Leeuwarden, he was also army chaplain several years. He started writing haiku and prose in Dutch and urban Groningen. His first Groningen-language texts appeared in Krödde from 1999. The novel Met de vouten in t wotter was awarded the literary prize from of the foundation t Gronninger Bouk in 2003. He received the Tine Clevering-Meijer prize for he story De poppenspeuler in 2003. He co-wrote a fictional exchange of letters in the 15th century Swaalfies rond Auwerd.
Acquisition
The collection was handed over to the University Library in 2020 by mediation of Prof. Wouter Slob, Zuidlaren.
