Biography

Arnoldus Adriaan Pit (1853-1925) was an attorney, and served as legal council for Antonia Hensen, widow of train conductor Hendrik Willem van der Linde. Hensen sued the Dutch national railway company after her husband died as a result of two trains colliding. This archive contains the verdict that was handed over 23 November 1898, regarding the train disaster that happened at Ruinerwold.

The archive contains legal motions and appeals, text copied from newspapers, legal documents from Hensen and Pit, notes regarding the inspection’s report on the accident, a manuscript account of the disaster, financial documents and a telegram. It also contains some documents that cannot be linked to these legal proceedings.
